چکیده

W-Si-C composites with high relative densities and good mechanical wear properties were successfully prepared by spark plasma sintering. The influence of SiC content on the density, microstructure, characteristics was investigated. results indicated that reaction between W at their interface produced W2C W5Si3. also reacted oxygen impurities grain boundary to form SiO2. purification boundaries carried out SiO2 synthesis. Reactive sintering reduces free energy system facilitates densification process composites. This in a significant increase density composites, which reaches maximum 98.12%, higher than 94.32% pure tungsten. hardness significantly increases from 4.33 GPa 8.40 when is 2 wt% compared tungsten due generation hard ceramic phase density. resistance improved little addition. rate decreased 313.27 × 10−3 mm3/N·m 5.71 W-0.5 SiC. SEM analyses revealed dominant mechanism attributed fatigue wear, while abrasive wear.

Effect of SiC nanoparticles addition on mechanical properties and wear resistance of cemented carbides fabricated by spark plasma sintering

WC-10Co cemented carbides containing 1 to 4 wt% SiC nanoparticles were prepared by spark plasma sintering. The effects of SiC content on microstructure, mechanical properties and wear resistance of the sintered materials were studied. Microstructural studies showed that SiC addition resulted in WC grain coarsening. In addition, the hardness decreased with increasing SiC content. However, the fr...

The Effects of Spark-Plasma Sintering (SPS) on the Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of BaTiO3/3Y-TZP Composites

Composite ceramics BaTiO₃/3Y-TZP containing 0 mol %, 3 mol %, 5 mol %, 7 mol %, and 10 mol % BaTiO₃ have been prepared by conventional sintering and spark-plasma sintering (SPS), respectively. Analysis of the XRD patterns and Raman spectra reveal that the phase composition of t-ZrO₂, m-ZrO₂, and BaTiO₃ has been obtained. Our results indicate that SPS can be effective for the decrease in grain s...

Nanostructured Al-ZrAl3 materials consolidated via spark plasma sintering: Evaluation of their mechanical properties

Aluminium based nanostructured materials with additions of 0.5, 1 and 1.5 weight% of zirconium have been produced and sintered using the spark plasma sintering technique in order to promote the nucleation of ZrAl3 platelets. The mechanical behaviour of all these nanocomposites was determined by means of the Small Punch Test. Zirconium additions significantly decrease the mechanical properties o...

Characterization of Multiwalled Carbon Nanotube-Reinforced Hydroxyapatite Composites Consolidated by Spark Plasma Sintering

Pure HA and 1, 3, 5, and 10 vol% multiwalled carbon nanotube- (MWNT-) reinforced hydroxyapatite (HA) were consolidated using a spark plasma sintering (SPS) technique. The relative density of pure HA increased with increasing sintering temperature, but that of the MWNT/HA composite reached almost full density at 900°C, and then decreased with further increases in sintering temperature. The relat...

THE EFFECT OF COBALT ADDITIVE ON MICROSTRUCTURE AND PROPERTIES OF W-CU COMPOSITES PREPARED BY SINTERING AND INFILTRATION PROCESSES

In the present paper, the influence of cobalt additive on the sintering/infiltration behavior of W-Cu composite was studied. For this purpose, the mixed powders of tungsten and cobalt were compacted by CIP method and then sintered at 1450, 1550 and 1600 °C in a hydrogen atmosphere. The sintered specimens at 1550 °C were subsequently infiltrated with liquid copper at 1250 °C for 10, 60 and 1...
